This was the first significant renovation of the Columbus International Airport since it was initially constructed. An entire architectural facelift and the replacement of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communications, and technology systems were implemented. KEY Engineering Group (KEY) played a crucial role in designing Columbus International Airport’s new communications and access control systems. To ensure an optimal design, KEY thoroughly assessed existing conditions understood the owner’s requirements, designed the new systems, and coordinated with other disciplines involved in the project. This coordination was facilitated through effective communication with the project architect, who relayed our needs to the airport staff. Meetings were held with the project architect and the airport’s IT and security directors. For the IT scope, KEY consulted with airport personnel to determine the standards and requirements for copper data drops.
